Description
Aurora Charter School (ACS) is a dual-language school seeking Math Intervention Teachers for the 2018-2019 school year to work with students in grades 3-8. “The mission of Aurora Charter School is to operate a center of learning that embraces academic excellence and celebrates the gift of Latino culture,” and our teachers must model that mission for their students every day. Intervention Teachers at ACS deliver instruction in collaboration with classroom teachers, ESL teachers, and teaching assistants to deliver the best academic experience possible for our students.

Responsibilities:
Duties vary depending on the specific assignment. The essential job functions include, but are not limited to, the following fundamental duties:
• Planning, organizing and carrying out tier II and III targeted, intensive interventions both inside and outside of the classroom.
• Aiding the administration of school-wide assessments.
• Attending weekly meetings both during and after school hours.
• Using data to collaborate with other teachers to identify specific areas of need.
• Providing research-based instruction in the core curriculum areas for which employed; making appropriate use of instructional resources and technologies.
• Developing and implementing innovative methods for providing instruction to students.
• Developing learning materials that support the learning objectives and planned activities.
• Instructing students using a variety of active and engaging teaching strategies/learning activities and student assessment methods
• Evaluating student performance in accordance with systems used by school; promoting student achievement; maintaining required student records; making related reports to the principal as prescribed or authorized by the Director.
• Maintaining contact and communication with parents of students and working with them in the academic development of the student; participating in parent teacher conferences.
• Performing classroom management duties; enforcing rules governing the conduct of students; taking appropriate disciplinary action with students when necessary; managing the classrooms effectively including maintaining good student discipline and supporting ACS’s discipline standards and rules.
• Continuing to seek professional growth and development in the curriculum areas for which employed; attending professional development required by the District.
• Assisting in the provision of daily supervision of students as required or assigned.
• Contributing to the District's inclusive workplace efforts by fostering a safe, welcoming, and respectful environment.
• Performing other related duties as assigned.

Requirements
Minimum Qualifications:
• A valid K-12 Reading license or endorsement, K-12 Elementary Education, 5-8 Communication Arts/Literature, or Mathematics license issued by the Minnesota Department of Education. A 5-8 Communication Arts/Literature license will also be considered for middle school grades.
• Proven experience helping students learn
• Proficiency in Spanish preferred but not required

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
• Knowledge of the core curriculum areas the teacher is responsible for instructing.
• Knowledge of teaching and learning strategies to meet a wide range of student learning styles and abilities.
• Knowledge and familiarity with the RTI process.
• Knowledge of multicultural, gender, and disability fair curriculum concepts.
• Knowledge of current research and trends in teaching and learning styles.
• Knowledge of instructional technologies.
• Strong skills in classroom presentation and management.
• Strong interpersonal skills to include the ability to work effectively with students, parents, district staff and community members from diverse backgrounds.
• Excellent organizational skills.
• Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
• Ability to plan and implement lessons based upon district and school goals and objectives.
• Ability to adapt teaching styles to diverse student populations.
• Ability to evaluate student performance and to present evaluations in a manner that fosters higher student achievement.
• Ability to work in a cooperative learning environment.
• Ability to utilize computer and multimedia technology as appropriate.
